History

We are proud to have worked with Sondra Forsyth, the Founding Artistic Director of Ballet Ambassadors, for over 10 years. Now that Sondra has dissolved Ballet Ambassadors.org, we are lovingly carrying on the tradition of bringing the finest dance residency program to students in New York. Sondra has generously given us the costumes, sets and equipment so that we can continue her mission through the Art of the Dance World. From 2001 to 2013, Ballet Ambassadors engaged countless young people in high caliber classical dance experiences. Favorable coverage was reported in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Daily News, New York Newsday, Bronx News, Norwood News, Echo Times, Dance Teacher Magazine, The Southampton Press, The Easthampton Star, News 12 Long Island and Bronx News 12. From Long Island, to the five boroughs, to Westchester, students (including English Language Learners and youngsters with special needs) were active performers in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Unicorn's Secret, Romeo & Juliet, Don Quixote, Othello, The Great Gatsby, Firebird and World Dances. Beginning in 2014, we began carrying on the work in the schools with our own program, Art of the Dance World.

Registered with the New York City Department of Education and Office of Arts and Special Projects, Art of the Dance World has a valid NYC DOE Vendor Code. Art of the Dance World is also listed by Suffolk County Arts-in-Education BOCES and Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. Our work has received top marks on evaluation forms, including NYC DOE Dance Reflection Tool. Most notably, numerous teachers, administrators, parents, and countless students have attested to the transformative power of the Art of the Dance World residency programs.
